Railway Bharti 2025: The control department of Indian Railways is facing a shortage of talented employees. This department is considered the brain of Indian Railways. Taking an important decision, the Ministry of Railways has decided to fill 60 percent of the posts of train controllers through direct recruitment process.
The Ministry of Railways has decided to fill 60 percent of the posts of Train Controller through direct recruitment process. These posts will be filled through the examination conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board. According to the ministry, direct recruitment will be done by the board for 60 percent of the vacant posts in the control department.
All these posts will be filled by graduate level candidates. Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information and Publicity, Railway Board, said, ‘How this examination will be conducted and what name will be given to this examination, these are some of the issues which are yet to be decided by the competent authority.’
Officials associated with the control department said that till 2017, direct recruitment in the department was done through the ‘Railway Traffic Apprentice’ examination conducted by the board. A railway official said, ‘The examination was stopped in 2017, after which direct recruitment in the control department stopped. All the posts were filled through ‘feeder cadre’ such as guards, station masters and train clerks.’
The officer said, ‘Since the salary and allowances in the control department were not equal to or more than the ‘feeder cadre’, the selected employees used to refuse to join the department. This was the biggest reason for the lack of talented employees in the control department. This department is considered the brain of the Indian Railways. However, with the new reforms, now good candidates will be directly posted here and this will improve train operations.’
According to the circular issued by the ministry, the remaining 40 per cent posts will be filled on the basis of merit or through departmental competitive examination.
