Bank Holidays Today: If you are planning to settle your pending bank work today, then before leaving home, check once whether the banks are closed in your place today. Today, 28 July 2025, Monday is a holiday in the calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
However, this holiday will be only in Sikkim. There is a local holiday declared on the occasion of Drukpa Tshe-zi, which is the festival of the first sermon of Lord Buddha. Due to this, banks will remain closed in Gangtok and other areas of Sikkim.
Banks will open in other states
According to the holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), there is no national holiday today. Banks are open in most of the states today. If you are from Delhi, UP, Mumbai, Haryana, Punjab, then banks will open in your place today. According to RBI, banks are closed only in Sikkim today. However, before leaving home, confirm once with your local bank branch, as in some states the holidays may vary due to local holidays.
How many days will the bank remain closed in the next month?
In the month of August, the work of banks will be affected due to many festivals and weekly holidays across the country. Banks will remain closed on 3 August due to Sunday and Ker Puja in Tripura, Tendong Lo Rum Phat in Sikkim and Odisha on 8th, Rakshabandhan on 9th, Patriotism Day in Manipur on 13th, Independence Day on 15th, and Janmashtami and Parsi New Year in Gujarat-Maharashtra on 16th. Apart from this, there will be holidays in many states from 26th to 28th August due to Ganesh Chaturthi and Nuakhai. Also, banks will remain closed on second and fourth Saturdays on 10th and 23rd August and every Sunday.

Schools will remain closed today in 10 districts of Rajasthan
Due to the warning of heavy rain, schools will remain closed today in 10 districts of Rajasthan including Kota, Tonk. IMD has issued a red alert, due to which the administration has declared a holiday keeping in mind the safety of children. The Meteorological Department has predicted extremely heavy rainfall in eastern Rajasthan, which may continue from 29 to 31 July. In view of this warning, closing the schools is being considered a precautionary step.
