In view of the severe heat and heat wave, the government has extended the summer vacation in the Basic Education Department and the recognized schools under its control till June 30. Children will remain on holiday, teachers and other employees of council schools will have to be present. Rashtriya Shikshak Mahasangh has protested against calling teachers and employees.

Summer vacation was declared from May 20 to June 15 in the Basic Education Department and recognized schools. Secretary Surendra Kumar Tiwari issued an order on Friday stating that at present, in view of extreme heat and heat wave, students will not be present in the schools for studies. They will come regularly for studies from July 1.

The order will be applicable to council and recognized schools

At the same time, council schools will be operated as per the scheduled timetable from June 16. Teachers, Shiksha Mitra, instructors, non-teaching staff will be present in the school and complete academic, administrative and other tasks, while for this the recognized schools and their management committee will be authorized to take decisions as necessary. The District Basic Education Officer has been directed to ensure strict compliance of the order.
Teachers expressed displeasure over the order

Expressing displeasure over the order, District Minister of Rashtriya Shikshak Mahasangh, Sushil Kumar Sharma said that the order to give leave to children and call teachers to school due to heatwave and severe heat is impractical and insensitive. When children will not come to school, mid-day meal is not to be distributed and all the work has been completed online, then making them sit in school in the afternoon is only creating a ground for exploitation. Rashtriya Shikshak Mahasangh demands that if the government wants, it can get the teachers to investigate and inspect the activities of other departments.
