
Rain and Storm Alert: The northern boundary of monsoon in the country has reached Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Puri, Sandip Island and Balangir. In the last 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rains have been recorded in many states including Tripura, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Rain and Storm Alert: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert regarding heavy rain and heat wave in different parts of the country for the next few days.
According to the department, heavy rains are expected in northeastern states from June 9 and in southern peninsular India from June 11. At the same time, heat wave warning has been issued in western Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, southern Uttar Pradesh and northern Madhya Pradesh between June 8 and 10.
Monsoon situation
Monsoon has reached the northern border of Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Puri, Sandeep Dweep and Balangir in the country. In the last 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rains have been recorded in many states including Tripura, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Also, strong thunderstorms and rain with a speed of 60-80 km/h have been predicted in the coastal areas of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura and Andhra Pradesh.
Heavy rain in Northeast India
In the next 7 days, most parts of Northeast India may receive light to moderate rains with heavy rains at some places. Heavy rains are forecast especially in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura between 9 and 12 June.
Rain in East and Central India too
Light to moderate rains and heavy rains at some places are also expected in North West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Bihar between 6 and 10 June. Strong winds at a speed of 40-50 km/h may also blow in the Gangetic plains.
Heat wave will continue
Meanwhile, heat wave conditions will continue in western Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, southern Uttar Pradesh and northern Madhya Pradesh between June 8 and 10. The Meteorological Department has advised farmers and the general public to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
