Not only this, the bank is also giving a discount of 5 basis points (0.05 percent) in the interest rate on home and car loans.
How much reduction in MCLR rates?
Punjab National Bank has reduced its MCLR rates by 5 bps in July. PNB’s overnight MCLR has come down from 8.25% to 8.20%. One-month MCLR has come down from 8.40% to 8.35%. Three-month MCLR has come down from 8.60% to 8.55%. Six-month MCLR has come down from 8.80% to 8.75%.
The one-year MCLR, which is commonly used for home loans, has come down from 8.95% to 8.90%. The three-year MCLR has come down from 9.25% to 9.20%. This means that home loan borrowers will now have to pay less interest. Let us tell you that MCLR is the lowest interest rate at which a bank can give a loan. That is, banks cannot give loans at a rate lower than this.
