Petrol Diesel Price Hike: On Tuesday morning, there has been a change in the prices of petrol and diesel in many cities of the country. The price of Brent crude has once again touched $ 70 per barrel, and this has had a direct impact on Indian consumers. Due to this, the rates of petrol and diesel have increased in some cities. However, prices remain stable in big metros like Delhi and Mumbai.
Today’s petrol and diesel rates in the four metros
City | Petrol ( ₹ /liter) | Diesel ( ₹ /liter) |
---|---|---|
Delhi | 94.72 | 87.62 |
Mumbai | 103.44 | 89.97 |
Chennai | 100.76 | 92.35 |
Kolkata | 104.95 | 91.76 |
- In Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), petrol became costlier by 8 paise to Rs 94.85 per liter and diesel became costlier by 9 paise to Rs 87.98 per liter.
- In Ghaziabad, petrol has become cheaper by 96 paise and is being sold at Rs 94.44 per liter, while diesel has become cheaper by Rs 1.09 and is being sold at Rs 87.51 per liter.
- A decline has also been registered in Patna, petrol has come down by 18 paise to Rs 105.23 and diesel has come down by 17 paise to Rs 91.49 per liter.
Why should petrol and diesel rates increase?
The reason behind the surge in Brent crude prices is the ongoing geopolitical tensions and demand-supply instability in the international market. Experts believe that if crude prices continue to rise like this, further increase in domestic fuel rates is possible in the coming days.
Rates are fixed every morning at 6 am
Government oil companies release new rates of petrol and diesel every day at 6 am. These rates include excise duty, dealer commission, VAT and other taxes, which almost doubles the basic price.
