New Traffic Challan: If you too often do not update the insurance and pollution certificate (PUC) of your vehicle or bike, then be alert now. Haryana Traffic Police has made a big change and implemented the digital challan system. Under this, as soon as your vehicle’s insurance or pollution certificate expires, an e-challan will be issued immediately and its message will be sent directly to the vehicle owner.
Now no physical inspection, challan directly from digital monitoring
Under this new system, Haryana Police has implemented a smart digital enforcement system instead of physical verification. Now the traffic police will digitally monitor the vehicles with the help of CCTV cameras and command control center. This has made the challan process more transparent and technically capable.
How will this new challan system work?
Under this smart system, when a vehicle comes under the surveillance of CCTV cameras installed in the city, the system checks the PUC and insurance records related to the vehicle’s registration details in real-time. If the validity of any document is found to be expired, an e-challan is automatically generated and an SMS alert is sent to the concerned vehicle owner.
Thousands of challans in a month, shocking figures
In the very first month of implementation of this system, 41,044 vehicles were challaned only because their PUC certificate had expired. Whereas, 2,682 vehicles were challaned because their insurance had expired. These figures show that ignoring traffic rules can now directly cost the pocket.
Vehicle owners now need to update documents on time
After this change, the drivers of Haryana will now have to update their documents on time. Especially the vehicle insurance and pollution certificate, because now on default, digital challan and fine will have to be paid immediately. This step is being considered a big initiative towards strict implementation of road safety and rule compliance.
