Railway Ticket Chart: Under the current system of Indian Railways, waitlisted passengers do not know the status of their tickets until a few hours before the train departs. In this situation, passengers coming from far away often face more problems.
Indian Railways: Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, Indian Railways is continuously taking steps. After eliminating the errors related to Tatkal ticket booking in the last few days, the Railways has taken steps to address the major concerns of passengers.
As per the new rules, information regarding confirmed seats will be published on the chart 24 hours before the train departs. Currently, this information is provided to passengers four hours before the train departs. But now with the new system, passengers will be able to plan their journey more easily.
Long-distance passengers will benefit: Currently, waitlisted passengers do not know the status of their tickets until a few hours before the train departs. This often creates problems for passengers coming from long distances.
It has been seen many times that passengers coming from far away leave for home after getting a confirmed train ticket. But they get stuck on the road due to non-confirmation of their next ticket. A senior railway official said that with the new system, passengers will get proper information about their seats in advance, so that they can plan in a better way.
Pilot project started in Bikaner division: Railways has started this system as a pilot project in Bikaner division of Rajasthan from June 6. So far, no problem has been encountered in it, a railway official said. We will investigate it for a few weeks so that any errors can be rectified. He said that the new system will bring a lot of relief to passengers travelling a distance of 100 km or more. It is expected that this system will be implemented in the remaining divisions of the railway in the coming days.
There will be no impact on Tatkal ticket bookings: Railway sources said that the new system will not have any impact on those who book Tatkal tickets. Tatkal tickets are booked 48 hours before the train departs. So there will be no problem in issuing charts 24 hours before. Also, it is not yet clear whether the Railways will issue a second or third chart, as many passengers may cancel their confirmed tickets in the last 24 hours.
A source said, “After the pilot project is completed, a decision will be taken keeping in mind the benefits of the passengers.” Currently, the railways used to prepare the chart twice. The first chart was prepared four hours before the train’s departure and the second, final chart, was prepared 30 minutes before the train’s departure.
After a successful trial in Bikaner division, it will soon be adopted across the railways. Railways believes that by creating a confirmation chart 24 hours before the train’s departure, passengers will know whether their tickets are confirmed or waiting-listed, so that passengers can try alternative arrangements.
