At present, passengers with waiting tickets in the railways get to know 4 hours in advance whether their ticket is confirmed or not. This causes a lot of trouble. This problem will be solved soon.
Train Ticket: Indian Railways is working on giving a big relief to its passengers. Soon the passengers will start getting the update of seat confirmation 24 hours before the journey. Currently this information is received 4 hours before. According to the news of Times of India, the railways is working on a system under which the passenger chart will be issued with confirmed seats 24 hours before the departure of the train instead of the current standard of issuing it just four hours before the departure of the train. Currently, passengers with waiting tickets, especially those coming to catch the train from far-flung areas, have to face a lot of trouble. Getting the update of seat confirmation 24 hours before will give them a big relief.
Pilot run started
A senior railway official said that a pilot project was run in Bikaner division of Rajasthan from June 6 to give update of seat confirmation 24 hours in advance and no problem has been reported so far. We will run this pilot run for a few more weeks to identify any problems and fix them. For example, passengers coming from 100 km or more away will be able to reach the railway station without any hassle if they get the information 24 hours in advance.
No problem in releasing chart 24 hours in advance
Another official said, “Since Tatkal tickets are booked 48 hours before the scheduled departure of trains, releasing the complete chart a day in advance will not be a problem.” As of now, it is not clear whether the railways will release a second and third list of passengers with confirmed reservations, as many passengers with confirmed tickets are likely to cancel their bookings within the last 24 hours.
“Let the pilot run get over and then decisions will be taken keeping in mind the interest of passengers,” a source said. Earlier, railway reservation charts were usually prepared twice. The first chart was prepared four hours before the scheduled departure time of the train and the second or the final chart was prepared 30 minutes before the train’s departure.
