UIDAI has extended the free last date for Aadhaar update. You can update your identity and address proof online for free through myAadhaar.
New Delhi: If you have not updated your Aadhaar details yet, there is some good news for you. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the period of its free online Aadhaar document update service.
The decision comes at a time when many Aadhaar holders need to update their documents due to marriage, transfer or other life events. This free service is available only on the myAadhaar portal, which allows people to submit documents from their smartphones or computers.
Date of free service of Aadhaar update extended: UIDAI has extended the date of free service of Aadhaar document update from June 14, 2025 to June 14, 2026. According to the official announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), this free service is to “benefit lakhs of Aadhaar number holders”.
UIDAI is urging people to take advantage of this extra time to keep their documents updated and corrected. This service is available only through the myAadhaar online portal and is free during this period.
You can update these details online for free: Documents showing their name and photo Proof of Address (PoA) — a document showing their residential address. Some documents like voter ID card, utility bill, ration card and passport can be uploaded to prove your identity or address. These documents should be in PDF, PNG or JPEG format and should be less than 2 MB in size. Updating these details is very important for accessing banking, education and healthcare services.
To update through myAadhaar portal, follow the steps given below: Visit myAadhaar portal. Log in with your Aadhaar number. After logging in, click on the “Update Aadhaa” option. Upload your identity or address proof in PDF, PNG or JPEG format.
Make sure each file is less than 2 MB. After uploading the documents, submit your application. Your documents will be verified by UIDAI and you will be able to track the progress of your submission online. This process is free and is designed to be convenient and paperless.
