EPFO had introduced auto-settlement of advance claims for the first time during the Covid-19 pandemic to provide quick financial assistance to members.
There is a good news for the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) members. EPFO has increased the auto-settlement limit for advance claims from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. This will give EPFO members faster access to funds especially in times of urgent need. According to ANI news, Union Labor and Employment Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya gave this information on Tuesday. He said that this major service increase is expected to benefit millions of members. EPFO introduced auto-settlement of advance claims for the first time during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide quick financial assistance to the members.
The claim will be settled in three days
According to the Union Minister, a total of 2.32 crore auto claims were settled in the financial year 2024-25 as against 89.52 lakh in the financial year 2023-24. The minister said that the advance claim filed by the member will be settled within three days of filing.
Warned against taking help from an agent
The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has cautioned its members against taking the help of third party agents. It also advised them to use online platforms for services related to their PF accounts, so as to avoid the risk of important details becoming public. EPFO has more than seven crore members who are employees or former employees of various private and public sector enterprises.
According to the government, it was found that many cyber cafe operators/fintech companies are charging huge amounts from EPFO members for services which are officially free. In many cases these operators only use the EPFO’s online complaint platform, which any member can use for free on their own. External entities are not authorized by the EPFO.
