In fact, the Jammu and Kashmir government has issued an order on June 4, 2025, which talks about increasing dearness allowance for pensioners. According to the order, currently dearness allowance is 53 percent of basic pension or family pension. It has been made 55 percent of basic pension or basic family pension
New allowance will be applicable from this date
According to the order of the state government, the new rate of dearness allowance (DA Hike in J&K) will be applicable from January 1, 2025. Arrears of allowance from January to May will be given in June. From June, allowance will be available every month as per the revised rate.
Allowance also amended for special category
The Jammu and Kashmir government has also revised the dearness allowance (DA) for special category pensioners or family pensioners. It has been increased from 246 percent to 252 percent of basic pension or family pension. This amendment will also come into effect from January 1 and the area till May will be given in June.
It is worth noting that the central government had announced to increase the dearness allowance for government employees and pensioners at the end of March. The allowance for them was increased from 53 percent to 55 percent. Earlier, the dearness allowance was increased during July 2024. At that time the allowance was increased from 50 percent to 53 percent.
