Angry locals caught the accused and thrashed him severely in protest against the incident that took place in broad daylight on Wednesday in a village in Sheikhpura district’s Sheikhpurasarai market. Police from Sheikhpurasarai police station, who arrived after receiving information, rescued the young man from the clutches of the mob and took him to the police station. The young man and the young woman belong to the minority community.

Family members and nearby residents rushed to the scene and apprehended the accused. The injured girl was taken to Sheikhpurasarai Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. SDPO Dr. Rakesh Kumar stated that the young man is the minor’s maternal uncle. The accused has been arrested, while the girl’s post-mortem was conducted at Sadar Hospital. Tension prevails in the village over the incident.
