New Delhi. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the “Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana”. This scheme will start from the year 2025-26. 100 districts will be covered under this scheme. This scheme is now going to run for 6 years.

Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana is inspired by the Aspirational District Program of NITI Aayog and is said to be the first scheme of its kind.

What is the objective of the scheme?

The objective of this scheme is to increase agricultural productivity (Agriculture Production in India), crop diversification and adoption of sustainable and new technical agricultural practices, increase storage capacity, improve irrigation facilities. Along with this, loans are also to be made available to farmers for long and short term.

This scheme will be operated not only by the Centre but also by 36 schemes of 11 existing departments, schemes of other states and local partnership with villages and towns.

In which 100 districts will it start?

Under this scheme, such districts will be included where there is low productivity, low crop growth and low loan distribution. At least one district will be selected from each state under this scheme.

How will we know how much progress has been made?

The districts covered under the PM Dhan Dhanya Yojana will be monitored on a monthly basis through a dashboard on the basis of 117 key performance indicators. Apart from this, NITI Aayog will also review and guide the district plans. At the same time, the central nodal officer appointed for each district will also keep reviewing the scheme on a regular basis.
