UIDAI has prescribed mandatory documents for 4 main proofs of Aadhaar – identity, house address, date of birth and proof of relationship.
UIDAI has issued an important update related to Aadhar Card. Meanwhile, UIDAI has issued a new list of documents required for making a new Aadhaar card or making any update in the existing Aadhaar card. This means that if you want to make a new Aadhaar for any member of your family or you want to make any kind of update or change in your Aadhaar card, you will have to prepare the documents as per the new requirement. Apart from Indian citizens, the new rules are also applicable to Indian citizens living abroad (OCI card holders), people living abroad for more than 5 years and long-term visitors.
What documents will be required for identity proofing?
UIDAI has fixed the speedy documents for key elements of Aadhaar – identity, residential address, date of birth. For proof of identity, passport, PAN card, voter identity card, driving license, photo identity card issued by government company, MNREGA card, pensioner card or any other document is required. Visa, water, gas, landline bill, bank passbook, ration card, driving license, rent agreement, pension, government issued residence certificate or any other document required for the purpose of renewal of leaves.
What documents are required to change the date of birth?
Also, to verify the date of birth, one of the following documents is required: school certificate, birth certificate, passport, government certificate containing date of birth. UIDAI has extended the facility of free online update in Aadhar card till June 14, 2026. In today’s time, Aadhar card has become the most important and vital document. Without Aadhaar card, your most important work may get stuck. Apart from this, without Aadhar card you may remain deprived of many government schemes.
