Why do we celebrate Krishna Janmashtami?
Krishna Janmashtami is a festival celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna. Krishna is considered to be the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and he is worshipped with great reverence and devotion throughout India. This year Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 16 September 2025. This festival falls on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month, hence it is also called Gokul Ashtami.
