How much will the fine be?

The date for paying tax was not extended

Why was the deadline extended?
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said that several changes have been made in the ITR forms this year, such as new reporting of capital gains, revision of tax slabs and technical improvements. Will the deadline for filing ITR be extended further?
The Income Tax Department has extended the deadline for ITR filing to 15 September 2025, but will it be extended further? There is no official announcement on this at the moment. However, the utility of some ITR forms is still not released and technical problems persist, due to which tax experts believe that if the situation does not improve, the CBDT may extend the deadline further. In such a situation, taxpayers are advised to file returns on time keeping in mind the last date, so that penalties and portal congestion can be avoided.
