Know what is the Chief Minister’s Women’s Employment Scheme?

Under the ‘Chief Minister’s Women’s Employment Scheme’, the government provides financial assistance of ₹10,000 as the first installment to every eligible woman to start her own business. This scheme is implemented by the Rural Development Department through the Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Committee (Jeevika). According to the scheme, if a woman successfully starts her own business, she may be provided additional financial assistance of up to ₹2 lakh in the future after evaluating her work.

What will be the impact of this scheme on the Bihar elections?

The women’s voting percentage has steadily increased in Bihar over the past several elections, and in the 2020 elections, women voters played a key role in the NDA’s victory. Under the ‘Chief Minister Women’s Employment Scheme’, 12.1 million women have directly benefited, representing a significant vote bank.
