In Ahmedabad, Air India’s Dreamliner plane hit the hostel of BJ Medical College, shattering the walls of the building and injuring several students.
What happened in Ahmedabad on Thursday was nothing less than a horrific film scene. An Air India Dreamliner plane lost control and crashed into the hostel building of BJ Medical College just minutes after takeoff, and the collision was so severe that it ripped through the hostel wall. News18 has exclusive pictures of this accident, which clearly show how the front part of the plane ripped through the wall, entered the building from one end and exited from the other end.
This accident happened just above the mess of the undergraduate hostel of BJ Medical College located in Meghani Nagar area of Ahmedabad.
At around 1:38 pm, when most of the students were having lunch, the Dreamliner plane suddenly went out of control and crashed directly into the building. The accident was so terrible that the roof and walls of the building were shattered and many students were injured.
What was seen in the exclusive pictures?
The tail of the plane is completely sunk into the wall of the hostel. The slabs and walls of the building are broken. The plane is visible peeking out from some parts, as if it has ripped through the wall. Nearby trees and plants and power lines were also damaged. The severity of the accident can be gauged by looking at these pictures.
Extremely rare incident
A plane crashing into a building and tearing it apart is a very rare and horrific incident. Usually plane crashes happen on runways or in open areas, but a plane crashing into a residential building like a college or hostel is unusual. Such incidents happen only when the plane develops a technical fault or loses control during takeoff or landing and crashes into a residential area.
