Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced the implementation of an annual toll pass of Rs 3000 on FASTag from August 15, 2025. This will save drivers Rs 7000.
Traveling on a highway or expressway means having to pay a toll, and having to pay a toll means having to recharge your FASTag. There is a restriction of keeping a minimum of Rs 200 in the FASTag, instead of constantly having to recharge it, you can get a pass worth Rs 3000 once. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced this. The central government has brought a new scheme on FASTag. This scheme will be implemented from August 15, 2025.
This scheme will greatly benefit those travelling on national highways. A Fastag-based annual toll pass will be available for private vehicles from August 15, 2025, and its cost will be Rs 3,000. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari claimed that through this pass, drivers will save up to Rs 7,000 in a year.
According to Nitin Gadkari, a private car driver usually pays Rs 10,000 for 200 trips. So if that private car driver takes this pass, he will save Rs 7,000. For Rs 3,000, the car driver will get 200 trips. This pass will be applicable on National Highways, Central Government-owned highways and expressways. The pass will not be applicable on state-level toll roads, such as Mumbai-Pune Expressway or Samruddhi Mahamarg.
Gadkari also said that the Fastag pass will speed up traffic at toll plazas across the country, avoid long queues and give a boost to digital payments. This scheme of the central government will greatly benefit the common middle-class vehicle owners, and is likely to eliminate many old complaints and inconveniences related to tolls. Especially for those drivers who travel regularly on national highways, this scheme will be very beneficial financially.
This new pass will be available through the Rajmarg Yatra App and the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). The official link in this regard will be announced by the government soon. The pass will be most beneficial for those who travel on national highways daily for office or business. This will significantly reduce their travel costs and save time. Apart from this, this pass is also a great opportunity for those who are fond of long journeys.
