The incident not only dampens the excitement of her victory but also highlights the serious issue of rising cyberbullying on social media.
On Friday, Urfi shared screenshots of the messages she received after winning ‘The Traitors’ on her Instagram. These messages addressed her with derogatory terms such as ‘cheater’, ‘prostitute’, and ‘r**sali’. Some messages also contained rape and death threats. 27-year-old Urfi wrote a long note in response to these messages, in which she questioned the double mentality of the society.

Sharing the screenshot of these messages on her social media, she wrote, ‘When you don’t like a girl, just drop the ‘R’ word. Not the first time I have been threatened or abused like this, but this time it was not because of my clothes but because I won a show. Imagine being so petty that you start abusing and threatening when your favourite player doesn’t win.’
She further added, ‘These are the best videos I have uploaded. No matter what I do, people just love to hate and abuse. Harsh ko na nikalti toh pyaar mein blind, Harsh ko nikal diya toh dhokhaabh. Purav ko jeetne deti toh idiot, jeetne nahi deya toh dhokhaabh.’ Concluding her note, Urfi firmly stated, ‘Hate never stopped me before, it will never stop me now.’

Soon after Urfi’s post, co-contestant Purav Jha shared her story on his Instagram and condemned the behaviour. He wrote, ‘This is completely unacceptable. Kisi ko kuch bhi bolna ye galit hai yaar…guys show some love to @urf7i.’ He further added, ‘Your love is what gives us happiness and inspiration.’ Purav’s support was a positive message for Urfi, showing a ray of hope amidst all this negativity.
