UIDAI Big News : If not updated, the child's Aadhaar card will be closed, UIDAI made a big change in the rules

According to the statement, “Timely completion of MBU is a necessary condition to maintain the accuracy and reliability of the biometric data of children. If the MBU is not completed even after the age of 7 years, the Aadhaar number may be deactivated as per the existing rules.”

UIDAI has made major changes in the rules regarding Aadhar card for children. It has been made mandatory for children who have got Aadhar card at the age of less than 5 years to update their biometrics after crossing the age of 7 years. If this is not done, the 12-digit unique identification number of the child’s Aadhar card can be deactivated. This information has been given in an official statement. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has started sending text messages to the mobile number registered in the Aadhar of children to complete the process of ‘mandatory update of biometrics’ (MBU).

Completion of MBU on time is a necessary condition

According to the statement, “Completion of MBU on time is a necessary condition to maintain the accuracy and reliability of biometric data of children. If MBU is not completed even after the age of 7 years, then the Aadhaar number may be deactivated as per the current rules.” A UIDAI official said that if the fingerprints and iris details are not updated in the Aadhaar card of children, then children may face problems in availing the benefits of various schemes related to Aadhaar.

Biometrics of children below 5 years of age are not taken

Actually, for Aadhaar enrollment of children below 5 years of age, their fingerprints and iris biometrics are not taken. Aadhaar enrollment is done only with the photograph, name, date of birth, gender, address and proof document of a child below 5 years of age. According to the statement, “According to the current rules, it is mandatory to update the fingerprints, iris and photograph in the Aadhaar details of the child when he/she is five years old. This is the first opportunity to update the biometrics mandatorily.”

Children get many facilities due to Aadhaar card
If the child gets the mandatory biometrics updated between the age of 5 to 7 years, then it is free. But after the age of 7, a fee of Rs 100 is charged to update the biometrics. UIDAI said that the Aadhaar card made with updated biometrics makes the life of the child easier and ensures seamless use of Aadhaar in availing services like admission in school, registration for entrance exam, scholarship etc.
