How many percent of Rs 2000 notes are in circulation?

On May 19, 2023, the Reserve Bank of India made a big announcement on Rs 2000 notes and took them out of circulation. At that time, a total of Rs 3.56 lakh crore worth Rs 2000 notes were present in the market, which has reduced to only Rs 9,330 crore by December 29, 2023. In such a situation, even till the end of December, there are a total of 2.62 percent pink notes which are still in circulation. These figures have been released by RBI.

Rs 2000 notes can be exchanged at 19 places

For the convenience of the customers, the Reserve Bank had given the facility to exchange Rs 2000 notes in banks and post offices till October 8, 2023. Even after this, if you have failed to exchange the notes then there is no need to worry. You can exchange Rs 2000 notes which are out of circulation by visiting 19 offices of the Reserve Bank.

The RBI offices where the facility to exchange notes is available are New Delhi, Patna, Lucknow, Mumbai, Bhopal, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata. , Thiruvananthapuram and Nagpur. Apart from this, you can also exchange notes through post by going to any post office nearest to your home.

Rs 2000 notes discontinued under clean note policy

Reserve Bank of India has banned Rs 2000 notes under the clean note policy. These notes were introduced in November 2016 when the government decided to demonetize the then Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. After this, RBI had stopped printing of Rs 2000 notes in the financial year 2018-19.
