Go to Rconline.bihar.gov.in and register by clicking on New User Sign Up for Meri Pehchan. More than 89 lakh people have benefited from the One Nation One Ration Card Scheme. Under this, free food grains are being given every month.
The Nitish government in Bihar has taken many important steps to make the life of the common people easier. In the previous government, there was a compulsion to stand in queue for hours to get the necessary documents made, whereas now under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the necessary documents are being made online from home. Apart from other important documents including residential,
income, character and caste, now you can get ration card made online from home. This facility will not only save time but will also free people from the rounds of offices and long queues. Now eligible beneficiaries can now easily get their ration card made from home.
The government has made the entire process of application for making a new ration card digital and transparent. For its application, one has to go to the website Rconline.bihar.gov.in. There one has to register by clicking on ‘New User Sign Up for Meri Pehchan’. After filling the form in the name of a family member here, the registration will be completed through the OTP received on the mobile number. After this, the application form can be filled by logging in with the new ID and password.
Under ‘One Nation One Ration Card’, ration card holders can get food grains from any ration shop in Bihar or outside the state. So far, more than 89 lakh ration card holders of Bihar have availed the benefit of One Nation One Ration Card Scheme. All eligible beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act can avail this benefit from any public distribution system shop within the state or any public distribution system shop outside the state through portability under ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ (ONORC).
Under the facility provided by the ration card, every month 35 kg of food grains (7 kg wheat and 28 kg rice) are being provided free of cost to the families covered under Antyodaya Anna Yojana and 5 kg of food grains (1 kg wheat and 4 kg rice) to each beneficiary of priority household. Not only this, now essential items like pulses, salt and oil are also being available under the ration card in addition to wheat and rice.
Under the ‘National Food Security Act, 2013’, against the target of covering 85.12 percent and 74.53 percent population in rural and urban areas respectively, i.e. a total of 8.71 crore population, at present a total of 8.35 crore beneficiaries of Priority Households (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana-covered Families (AAY) are being provided free food grains every month through 51,185 public distribution system shops.
In the application process for making ration card online, information of family members has to be entered and necessary documents like Aadhar card, bank passbook, residence certificate, family photo (JPG/JPEG format), applicant’s signature photo, and if conditions apply, self-signed photocopy of disability, income or caste certificate will have to be uploaded. After submitting the application, the reference number will be received on the mobile through SMS, so that the status of the application can be tracked.
The facility of making ration card online will save time and resources of common people, as well as make the process of making ration card more transparent. The Food and Consumer Protection Department has appealed to all eligible people to take advantage of this facility.
