A big campaign has been launched in Uttar Pradesh against traffic rule violations and outstanding challans of more than Rs 5000 crore. In this sequence, the process of cancelling the registration (RC cancellation) of more than 3 lakh vehicles and suspending 58,893 driving licenses has been started.
Action has been recommended against 4,351 vehicles and 1,820 license holders in Lucknow zone. So far, 1,006 driving licenses and 3,964 vehicle registrations have been suspended or cancelled.

- Criminal attitude
- Driving under influence of alcohol or drugs
- Committing cognizable offences
- Repeated dangerous driving
Officials said that such drivers and vehicle owners have been identified who do not pay the challan while waiting for the court’s decision. 20 such districts have been identified, where the number of traffic violations and road accidents is the highest. These include – Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Agra, Bareilly, Noida etc.

In Lucknow, 1,630 road accidents occurred in 2024, in which 576 people died and 1,165 people were injured.
