It is necessary to link IRCTC account with Aadhaar. This rule is mandatory from July 1. The government has taken this decision to prevent fraud. From July 15, Aadhaar is also required for window tickets.

It is necessary to keep the IRCTC app updated to avoid such situations. Along with this, you need to link your Aadhaar card to the IRCTC app. The accounts of users who have not linked Aadhaar will be closed.
From July 1, it is mandatory to link Aadhaar card with IRCTC. This rule has been made mandatory. More than 2 lakh accounts have already been closed by IRCTC. More than 20 lakh accounts are being verified. This rule will be brought to check all these frauds, fake accounts and arbitrariness of the agents.

Railways has been receiving frequent complaints about black market sale of Tkal tickets and irregularities in bookings by agents. Linking the account with Aadhaar will ensure that the ticket is booked in the name of the genuine passenger, which will help in stopping fake bookings. This will be a big relief to the common man.
How to link IRCTC account with Aadhaar?
- Visit the website irctc.co.in or open the IRCTC Rail Connect app.
- Log in with your login credentials.
- Go to the My Account section and click on Link Your Aadhaar or Aadhaar KYC.
- Upload your 12-digit Aadhaar number or virtual ID.
- Click on Send OTP. An OTP will be sent to the number linked to the Aadhaar card.
- Upload this OTP and select the submit option.
- After the process is complete, the Aadhaar status will appear as Verified in your IRCTC profile.
You have 10 days, rules will change from July 1
Along with Tatkal tickets, Aadhaar card has now been made mandatory for window tickets as well from July 15. Therefore, when you go to buy a ticket, you must have your Aadhaar card and the phone number linked to Aadhaar with you. Otherwise, you will face difficulties in booking a ticket.
Online ticket booking will not be possible because it has been clearly stated that priority will not be given to those accounts that do not have Aadhaar linked. So you still have 10 days left.
