Bihar Diesel Subsidy Scheme: This time, amidst the drought in the fields of Bihar, a news of relief is echoing. The diesel subsidy scheme of the state government has not only given financial support to lakhs of farmers, but has also given a new flight to their spirits. This scheme is no less than a boon for the farmers troubled by irregular monsoon and lack of rain.
What is Diesel Subsidy Scheme?
The Bihar government has implemented the diesel subsidy scheme to help the farmers affected by drought and less rainfall. Under this, farmers running diesel pumpsets for irrigation are being given a subsidy of Rs 75 per liter of diesel. This scheme has been started especially for the irrigation of paddy, maize, jute, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables and medicinal crops.
How to get the benefit?
On an average, 10 liters of diesel is required for one irrigation of one acre of land, for which a subsidy of Rs 750 is available. There is a provision of subsidy for two irrigations (Rs 1500 per acre) for paddy and jute and three irrigations (Rs 2250 per acre) for other Kharif crops.
Maximum limit: A farmer can avail this benefit for his farm up to 8 acres.
Method of application: Farmers have to apply online on the DBT portal of Bihar Government https://dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in. For this, it is necessary to submit 13 digit registration number, digital voucher of diesel purchase, and land documents like LPC, receipt or self-declaration form. Let us tell you that the subsidy amount reaches directly to the farmers’ bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The Bihar government has approved Rs 100 crore for this scheme by taking a decision in the cabinet last Wednesday. Agriculture Minister Sudhakar Singh said that our goal is that no farmer should lose his crop due to lack of water. We are constantly working to make this scheme more effective.
How to get subsidy up to Rs 18,000?
The math for getting a maximum subsidy of Rs 18,000 under the Bihar Diesel Subsidy Scheme is as follows. A subsidy of Rs 75 is given per liter of diesel. An average of 10 liters of diesel is needed to irrigate one acre of land once, that is, Rs 750 per acre per irrigation. For paddy and jute crops, subsidy for irrigation is available twice per acre. That is, Rs 750 × 2 = Rs 1500 per acre.
For other Kharif crops (such as maize, pulses, oilseeds, seasonal vegetables, medicinal and aromatic plants), subsidy for irrigation is available three times per acre. That is, Rs 750 × 3 = Rs 2250 per acre. A farmer can avail subsidy for a maximum of 8 acres of land. If a farmer grows other Kharif crops (maize, pulses, oilseeds etc.) in 8 acres and irrigates three times, then it comes to Rs 2250 per acre. A farmer can apply for 8 acres then Rs 2250 × 8 = Rs 18,000.
In such a situation, the maximum subsidy of Rs 18,000 will be available when the farmer cultivates crops like maize, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables or medicinal plants in 8 acres.
