FASTag Annual Pass Rule: From August 15, 2025, private vehicle owners in India will get the option of an annual FASTag toll pass. A fee of Rs 3000 will have to be paid for this. Its validity will be for one year or 200 toll crossings (whichever is earlier). There is an important information related to this, which you may have missed. This information is related to such toll systems, where both entry and exit are recorded. In this regard, the government has clarified that the toll system with both entry and exit will be considered as one trip, not two. This will not lead to double charge.
This is a system where when the vehicle enters the toll road, its number or FASTag is scanned at the entry point. When the same vehicle exits at the end of the road or from an exit point, its exit is also recorded. Here the vehicle has to pass through two toll plazas, one at the entry and the other at the exit. So it will be considered as 1, not two.
This scheme will provide great relief to those who travel on the national highway daily or frequently. They will not have to worry about money being deducted every time and will also save time at the toll. This will reduce traffic and make travel easier. Only private vehicles will get the pass
This scheme was announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on June 17 and this scheme is being implemented through a notification of the Central Government. Its objective is to reduce the congestion at toll plazas, simplify the process of toll payment and make the journey seamless.
The price of this annual toll pass has been fixed at Rs 3,000. This is a prepaid facility in which you will not have to pay FASTag deductions again and again. Once the pass is activated, it will be valid for one year or till you cross the toll 200 times. No matter how much is charged at each toll, it will not matter.
This facility is only for personal use vehicles, such as cars, jeeps and vans. Only those drivers will get the benefit of this, who have valid registration and active FASTag. This facility will not be available for commercial vehicles like trucks, buses and taxis
How will it be activated
The government will soon release a link to activate this pass, which will be available on the websites of “Highway Travel App”, MoRTH (Ministry of Road Transport) and NHAI (National Highways Authority of India). The pass can be activated by entering the vehicle information and FASTag ID there.
Will its price change every year?
The price of this pass may change every year from April 1. This change will be made on the basis of inflation or policies, as mentioned in the new rules.
According to CRISIL Senior Director Jagannath Padmanabhan, this pass will be very useful for those who travel 2,500 to 3,000 kilometers or more every year. Such passengers will also get good savings from this and long distance travel will become more comfortable.
