EPFO New Rules: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made some important changes from August 1. Now new UAN will be issued only through Umang app. Aadhaar authentication is necessary for this. New UAN will not be issued without Face Authentication Technology (FAT).
EPFO New Rules: Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has announced an update. Now Universal Account Number (UAN) will be issued through Umang app using Face Authentication Technology (FAT). UAN can be activated with this. According to the news published in Economic Times, this facility has been implemented from August 1. It is being said that with this decision of EPFO, there will be no error in UAN and users will be able to operate easily.
EPFO had also issued a circular on August 1 in this matter. According to this circular, from August 1, now new UAN will be available only through Aadhaar based Face Authentication Technology (FAT) through Umang app. With this, EPFO members will now be able to generate UAN themselves without depending on the company, which will also reduce the possibility of errors in the data. This new feature claims to give a completely digital, contactless and secure experience.
These people got exemption from mandatory Aadhaar
Some people have also been exempted from mandatory Aadhaar authentication. In exceptional cases like international workers, citizens of Nepal and Bhutan, the process of creating UAN through the company will continue.
Know what is Umang App
UMANG is a multi-service mobile app, which has been launched by the Central Government under the Digital India initiative. Apart from EPFO, services of many other government departments are also available at one place through this app. But if you are an EPF member, then this app is no less than a digital boon for you.
Benefits of EPFO’s new face authentication service:
1 – 100% Aadhaar and user verification is done through face scan.
2 – User information is auto-filled directly from the Aadhaar database.
3 – Mobile number is matched with the number registered with Aadhaar.
4 – UAN gets activated automatically as soon as it is generated.
5 – Employees can download e-UAN card themselves and give it to the employer at the time of joining the job.
6 – Services like viewing EPFO passbook, updating KYC and making claims can be availed immediately.
7 – This facility is also available for employers.
How to generate and activate UAN?
1 – Download UMANG App and AadhaarFaceRD App from Google Play Store.
2 – Open UMANG App and go to ‘UAN Allotment and Activation’ service.
3 – Enter Aadhaar number and mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
4 – Verify through OTP.
5 – Do live face scan with the app’s camera – it matches with the Aadhaar database.
6 – After verification, UAN will be sent through SMS.
7 – UAN will be activated automatically and e-UAN card can be downloaded from UMANG App or EPFO portal.
