Bihar Today’s Weather : Cyclone Monta has activated in the Bay of Bengal and is moving towards Bihar. As a result, an alert has been issued for heavy rain and strong winds in several districts on October 30-31.
Bihar’s weather is set to witness another major change. Cyclone Montha, which has been active in the Bay of Bengal, is now moving towards the state. Its direct impact is expected in many districts of Bihar in the coming days. The Patna Meteorological Center has issued a warning, stating that heavy rains accompanied by strong winds are likely in many areas this week. Along with the downpour, minimum temperatures will also drop. This is likely to increase the impact of the cold.
Cyclonic storm to intensify today
Montha, which became active in the Bay of Bengal, has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm by the morning of October 28th. It is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast around Kakinada, between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, as a severe cyclonic storm this evening or night.

The storm’s maximum speed is expected to be 90-100 kmph, gusting to 110 kmph. After reaching the coast, the cyclone will gradually weaken and move north-northeastward across Chhattisgarh and Odisha, toward Jharkhand. It is expected to reach Jharkhand and surrounding areas as a low pressure area on October 30.
Cyclonic storm will affect Bihar
This severe cyclonic storm is expected to cause light to moderate rainfall at most locations in Bihar between October 30 and 31. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is possible at isolated locations in the northern and southern districts of Bihar on October 30 and 31. Thunderstorms and strong winds of up to 30-40 km per hour are also likely across much of the state during this period.
Cold wave alert
There is no significant change in maximum temperature over most parts of the state during next 2 days, but thereafter maximum temperature is forecast to decrease by 2-4°C during next 2 days.
These districts will have more impact
On October 29th, heavy rains are expected in Bhabua, Rohtas, Gaya, Nawada, and Sheikhpura. Light to moderate rains are expected in the remaining districts. On October 30th, very heavy rains are expected in Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Banka, Jamui, and Sheikhpura. Heavy rains are expected in Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Bhagalpur, and Munger.
On October 31, West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Supaul and Araria will receive very heavy rainfall, while Purnia, Madhepura, Saharsa, Gopalganj and Muzaffarpur will receive heavy rainfall.
