Bihar News! If your name is deleted from Bihar, you will get another chance, Election Commission will give you one month's time

The Commission has said that any voter or any recognised political party will get one month’s time from August 1 to September 1 to get the name of any eligible voter included in the voter list if they have been left out by mistake.

SIR Row: Amidst the massive protests and uproar from Patna to New Delhi against the special voter intensive revision (SIR) campaign, the Election Commission has clarified that those whose names have been left out during the current SIR campaign will be given another chance to get them included in the voter list. The Commission has said that any voter or any recognized political party will get one month’s time from August 1 to September 1 to make amendments so that they can get the name of any eligible voter included in the voter list.

Election Commission of India clarified that as per Para 7(5) on page 3 of the SIR Order, any voter or any recognised political party will get one month’s time from 1st August to 1st September to get the name of any eligible voter included in the voter list, if his/her name has been left out by the BLO/BLA or his/her name has been wrongly included by the BLO/BLA.

Draft voter list will be published on August 1

According to the Commission, the draft voter list will be published on August 1, 2025, after the completion of the first phase of SIR. If there is any error in the draft voter list, any voter or political party can file an objection in this regard before the concerned ERO or AERO of that assembly constituency by September 1, 2025. If the name of an eligible person is not in the draft voter list, he can submit his claim by September 1, 2025.

The Commission has said that the voters left out in the revision of the voter list will have to apply afresh by filling Form-6 to get their name included during the revision process. Then their name will be added in the final publication of the voter list.

More than 52 lakh voters not found

On door-to-door investigation under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, the election officials have so far found that more than 52 lakh voters are not present at their addresses and 18 lakh voters have died. In view of the relatively lower participation in urban areas as compared to rural areas, the last date for filling the counting form under the Voter List Special Intensive Revision Campaign 2025 has been extended by one day to July 26 at present.

98.01 percent voters’ forms submitted
According to the information released by the Election Commission in Bihar till July 23, 98.01 percent voters’ forms have been submitted during the special intensive voter testing. In the process of voter revision, about 15 lakh voters’ forms were not returned and 7.17 crore voters’ forms (90.89 percent) have been received and digitized. A new form has been made available to those voters of Bihar who are currently living outside the state temporarily and are not registered as voters anywhere else. It can be filled online on the Election Commission’s site. The names of those voters who have submitted the counting form will be included in the draft voter list.
