Bharat Bandh Today : Will banks remain closed on July 9? 'Bharat Bandh' call today, 25 crore people will participate!

Bharat Bandh Today: Many central trade unions across the country have announced ‘Bharat Bandh’ on Wednesday, July 9. In such a situation, the question arises whether banks will remain closed today or not? Let’s know.

Bharat Bandh on 9 July 2025: A call for ‘Bharat Bandh’ has been given across the country on Wednesday, 9 July 2025. Farmers, laborers and central trade unions have announced this strike. More than 25 crore rural laborers and farmers are said to be participating in this nationwide strike. The Bharat Bandh is likely to affect banks, post offices, traffic and factories.

These central trade unions supported

According to the Times of India report, central trade unions like All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS) and Samyukta Kisan Morcha have supported this bandh. These organizations say that the policies of the central government are not in favor of laborers and farmers. They allege that the government is amending labor laws to benefit the corporates. Apart from this, it is promoting privatization and ignoring the growing problems in rural areas.

More than 25 crore people will participate

Amitrajit Kaur of AITUC said, ‘More than 25 crore workers will participate in this strike. Farmers and workers from villages will also come out on the streets and protest.’ Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh Sidhu of Hind Mazdoor Sabha said that this strike will affect banking, postal, coal mining, factories and traffic.

Will banks remain closed today?

According to the list of holidays of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), there is no holiday in banks on Wednesday, July 9. However, banking services are expected to be affected due to Bharat Bandh. The effect of this nationwide strike can be seen most in states like West Bengal, Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) has also said to participate in ‘Bharat Bandh’.
