8th Pay Commission: A big update has come from the central government regarding the 8th Pay Commission. In this matter, the central government has given this information in Parliament on Monday (July 21). DMK MP TR Balu and Samajwadi Party MP Anand Bhadauria asked in the Lok Sabha that when will the 8th Pay Commission be constituted, its Terms of Reference be decided and the recommendations of the Commission be implemented?

In response to this question, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that suggestions have been sought from key stakeholders including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Personnel and Training and the states. He further said that the chairman and members of the 8th Pay Commission will be appointed after the Commission is formally notified by the government.

MPs TR Balu and Anand Bhadoria had asked questions about the 8th Pay Commission. They had sought information about its status and timeline. This commission was first announced in January 2025. Let us tell you that the central government has approved the formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC). This commission will consider the salary structure of government employees and pensioners.

No concrete answer was received
This answer of the Central Government has shocked the central employees. No concrete assurance has been given by the government regarding the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, appointment, recommendations or the timeline related to their implementation. In such a situation, even after giving the answer, the situation remains the same. No special indication is being received from this.

Work will not be done without Terms of Reference
According to the news published in Financial Express, for the start of any pay commission, it is necessary to decide the Terms of Reference i.e. scope and conditions of work. Without this, the Eighth Pay Commission cannot be implemented. It was expected that the government would finalize it in April 2025, but this has not happened. The Department of Personnel and Training had certainly invited applications for four under-secretary level posts for the commission, but after that no information has come out on it. In the absence of Terms of Reference, the formation of the commission has remained incomplete.

The 8th Pay Commission is getting delayed
The Central Government had announced the 8th Pay Commission in January itself, but till now no information has been revealed about its chairman, members or terms of reference. The entire process from the establishment of the commission to its implementation takes a long time. Here the government has assured that it will be constituted soon. About 1.12 crore central government employees and pensioners are waiting for the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. This commission will start just after the term of the 7th Pay Commission ends in December 2025.
